What’s Your Emergency?

Each day, dispatchers from the seven police departments in San Luis Obispo County take dozens of calls from residents seeking help for issues ranging from minor disputes to serious crimes. The Tribune provides coverage of serious crimes every day on its news pages. Here is a look at some of the other, more unusual calls as found in recent police logs from Paso Robles, Pismo Beach and San Luis Obispo.

8:57 a.m. Oct. 30, 536 Marsh St. in San Luis Obispo

A man was defecating on a tree in front of the Jack House.

7:10 p.m. Oct. 31, 1209 Descanso St. in San Luis Obispo

A suspicious man was dressed as Saddam Hussein.

Help yourself

9:41 p.m. Nov. 2, 99 S. Dolliver St. in Pismo Beach

A short, heavy female was opening up beer and drinking it in a 7-11. The woman had a little boy with her. She was arrested.

Reeking rodents

9:07 a.m. Nov. 2, 500 block of Wadsworth Ave. in Pismo Beach

A bad smell was coming from a residence. It was thought to be coming from a bush to the right of the porch. It might have been a poisoned gopher.

String along

4:58 p.m. Nov. 5, 906 Southwood Drive in San Luis Obispo

A group of people was wrapping string around playground equipment and trees at Sinsheimer Park.


11:32 p.m. Nov. 5, 799 Foothill Blvd. in San Luis Obispo

Kids were throwing apples at cars. There was a lot of fruit in the street.

Not just for looks

5 p.m. Nov. 5, 3300 Riverside Ave. in Paso Robles

A woman was sitting on a chair in the middle of the railroad tracks. She was wearing earphones and writing. Officers contacted the woman, who was a tourist and did not know trains actually came through the city. She moved off the tracks and was advised to find a safer location to write.
