Six large spider webs and more than 100 spiders of all different sizes have taken over the front yard of Steve Cascarano’s Oceano home.
Cascarano, with some help from his wife, Brenda, spent about 12 hours during a week in late September creating the webs with about 1,900 feet of kite string. He’s been perfecting his technique for about 20 years and has hung the webs outside his Juanita Avenue house each Halloween since the couple moved in three years ago. A few real spiders are even using the decorations to their advantage by weaving their own webs from the string.
The decorations will last only until today. “Halloween is my favorite time,” Steve Cascarano said. “It’s the only time of the year you can be kooky and step out of the box.”
