A 56-year-old man was arrested in California Valley on Sunday on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly severely beat his former girlfriend, according to San Luis Obispo County sheriff’s officials.
Douglas Ray Flaata was also arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and terrorist threats.
According to a news release, deputies responded to an emergency call from the 11000 block of Dixon Trail in a remote area of California Valley at 5:33 p.m. Sunday.
The first deputy on scene took Flaata into custody and called for medical assistance after hearing a woman calling for help. The woman, a 74-year-old who was not identified, had received serious injuries and was airlifted to Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton. Her condition was not available Monday afternoon.

Flaata was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
