Volunteers led by Keep Oceano Beautiful staged a communitywide cleanup effort in the seaside South County town Saturday and Sunday.
Targeting old appliances, junk cars, furniture and other discarded items, the effort was intended to clean up the town’s alleyways, open spaces and yards.
Volunteers drove pickups around the community to load items that were taken to staging areas, and then separated to be taken to appropriate dumping sites.
“This is our home, and we like to keep it clean,” said Tony Presser, a co-chairman of the organization.
