CalFire is conducting a 15-acre prescribed burn in Atascadero from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.
The burn is located at the eastern end of Santa Clara Road in southeastern Atascadero. Three fire engines and one fire crew will be involved.
The burn is being conducted as a training exercise. The vegetation to be burned consists primarily of non-native grasses and yellow star thistle, a prolific invasive plant.
People in the Santa Margarita, Atascadero and Templeton areas may see smoke from the burn, which is expected to last about two hours.
