Cal Poly's football team scored the game's final 20 points tonight to rally and defeat Central Oklahoma 44-25 in a nonconference game at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.
The Mustangs (2-3) struggled early and trailed the Division II Bronchos (1-5) 19-10 at halftime.
Cal Poly took a 24-19 lead into the fourth quarter on third-quarter touchdowns runs of 2 yards by Andre Broadus and 18 yards by Deonte Williams.
Central Oklahoma took its last lead at 25-24 a little over two minutes into the fourth quarter on a 21-yard touchdown pass.
But Cal Poly cornerback Asa Jackson gave the Mustangs the lead for good on a 52-yard interception return for a touchdown with 10:25 remaining. It was Jackson's second interception return for a touchdown in as many home games this season.
Broadous then helped seal the win for the Mustangs by throwing a 34-yard touchdown pass to Jarred Houston and adding a 1-yard touchdown run with 25 seconds remaining.
Broadous ran for three touchdowns. He rushed for 69 yards on 17 carries and was 11-of-16 passing for 133 yards. Templeton High graduate Jake Romanelli ran for 115 yards on 24 carries for Cal Poly, and Mark Rodgers added 107 rushing yards on 14 attempts.
