More than 200 cyclists, including many veterans injured in combat, rode through San Luis Obispo County on Wednesday as part of a seven-day trip along the state’s coastline. Participants were cheered on by students as they passed Shell Beach Elementary School.
The riders started Sunday in San Francisco and will conclude this weekend in Los Angeles.
The ride is a form of therapy for military members who sustained physical and mental trauma during wartime deployments.Called Ride 2 Recovery, the event benefits military mental and physical rehabilitation programs that feature cycling.
