Celebrate 100-year anniversary of women's right to vote on Monday

Stanford professor and author Barbara Babcock will be the keynote speaker at an event Monday celebrating the 100-year anniversary of women in the United States securing the right to vote.

Babcock will sign copies of her book “Woman Lawyer: The Trials of Clara Foltz.”

Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian, R-San Luis Obispo, and Trudy Jarrett of the League of Women Voters will moderate the event, which honors women throughout the county who have been elected to office.

The Sweet Adelines and the Crustacea Jazz Band will entertain, and there will be a skit, “Why Men Should Vote.” There also will be wine tasting and refreshments.

The free celebration will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dallidet Adobe Gardens, 1185 Pacific St., in San Luis Obispo.
