Construction on the Highway 101 bridge over Traffic Way in Atascadero is expected to wrap up in late 2012.
The overpass work is another phase in the Highway 101 Atascadero Rehabilitation Project that began in March.
Crews are repaving 11 miles of highway from north of the Cuesta Grade to Traffic Way.
The Traffic Way segment, which began in June, widens the overpass by adding 10-foot shoulders on the outside and five-foot shoulders on the inside.

A brick-like finish will also go on the bridge’s exterior for a similar look to the new bridge at the Highway 101/41 interchange.
As part of the larger $25.3 million construction project, Caltrans will also widen the bridges at Santa Margarita Creek and Atascadero Creek and resurface the on- and off-ramps at Highway 58, San Diego Road, Santa Rosa Road, Curbaril Avenue, Highway 41 and Traffic Way.
