Hundreds of white flags were placed on the County Government Center lawn in San Luis Obispo on Tuesday to mark the number of county babies exposed to alcohol during pregnancy since 2004.
The flags were placed in anticipation of International Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Awareness Day on September 9.
Bells are rung at 9:09 a.m. and people from around the world gather for events to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking during pregnancy.
The first FASD Awareness Day was on 9/9/99.
