The California Highway Patrol has identified the body in a car found Monday in a ravine off Highway 41 as that of Charles Jackson.
According to a CHP report, Jackson’s 1999 Chevrolet left the roadway and traveled down a steep embankment. It rolled as it went down the embankment and came to rest on its roof.
“Mr. Jackson was located in the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” reads the report. The date and time of the accident are not known and no one witnessed it.
The car of missing Morro Bay man Charles Jackson has been found at the bottom of a ravine along Highway 41 between Morro Bay and Atascadero with a dead body inside.
The vehicle was found Monday by the California Highway Patrol and a tow truck operator who were responding to a separate incident. It was at the bottom of a deep ravine about a half mile south of Torro Creek.
“A deceased body was found in the vehicle but it could not be positively identified at this time as the body of Mr. Jackson,” stated a news release from the Morro Bay Police Department. “San Luis Obispo Coroner’s Office is in the process of identifying the body.”
