UPDATE 5:15 p.m. One of the injured teenagers, Lucia Flores of Grover Beach, was taken to a local hospital, according to police.
Her companion, whose injuries were more severe, was taken to a hospital in Santa Barbara. Police declined to release the name of the second girl because she is a minor.
The driver was identified as Zachary Schultz, 19, of Arroyo Grande. He has not been charged or cited, police said. The accident remains under investigation.

Police said in a news release that the girls, whose names weren't released, were struck at Grand Avenue and Seventh Street at 8:50 p.m. They were listed in stable condition Sunday night.
The driver, a 19-year-old male from Arroyo Grande, was not hurt, police said. He was not driving under the influence, they said. Police did not release his name.
