What’s Your Emergency?

Each day, dispatchers from the seven police departments in San Luis Obispo County take dozens of calls from residents seeking help for issues ranging from minor disputes to serious crimes. The Tribune provides coverage of serious crimes every day on its news pages. Here is a look at some of the other, more unusual calls as found in recent police logs from Pismo Beach and San Luis Obispo.

Running in the dark

10:55 p.m. July 10, 195 Wave Ave. in Pismo Beach

A man dressed in black was jogging up Highland. A resident asked that officers check on him because of recent vehicle burglaries in the area. Officers said the man lives nearby and runs every night at 11.

11:39 p.m. July 10, 533 Pismo St. in San Luis Obispo

A resident called 911 to say her roommates were having a party, and the TV was too loud.

Curses, foiled again

11:34 a.m. July 11, 140 S. Dolliver St. in Pismo Beach

A resident said he received a phone call from someone stating they were from the IRS. When the resident called them on it, the caller used profanity and hung up.

11:59 a.m. July 12, 1099 Marsh St. in San Luis Obispo

Someone was running red lights and throwing marshmallows.

7:29 p.m. July 13, 333 Five Cities Drive in Pismo Beach

A woman was taking her clothes off and trying on bathing suits in Styles for Less.

Only in America

2:23 p.m. July 14, downtown Pismo Beach

A man in a suit was soliciting donations because he was running for president. When officers talked to him, the 79-year-old man said he was running for president, liberty and prosperity and was accepting $3.

A resident heard a cat crying.

8:11 a.m. July 15, 1516 Oceanaire Drive in San Luis Obispo

A resident found a black garbage bag with a dead raccoon in it on his vehicle.

10:50 a.m. July 15, 3985 Higuera St. in San Luis Obispo

A man with a dog in underwear was holding a sign near Food 4 Less, asking for money.

A man was standing on the overpass with surgical gloves on and two cups in his hand.

A woman at Starbucks was yelling and taking her clothes off.

11:32 a.m. July 16, 665 Marsh St. in San Luis Obispo

Someone was driving a maroon Ford Expedition with a baby in a baby swing in the back.

1:40 p.m. July 15, call to police department in Pismo Beach

A woman called 911 and said there was an emergency, but refused to provide her location or name. She very calmly stated she preferred to head to the government center for a restraining order.

3:46 p.m. July 15, 900 block of Skyline Drive in Pismo Beach

A man requested that officers check on his wife. He said he left a message on a machine for her and a man answered the phone and repeated everything he said, word for word. Officers checked the home and said everything was fine.

11:40 p.m. July 16, 690 Cypress St. in Pismo Beach

A woman inside Harry’s Nightclub and Beach Bar was dancing in the nude, and employees requested officers respond. The woman was arrested.
