SLO airport to get $857,286 grant to boost safety

San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport will receive a $857,286 federal grant to increase safety at the airport, according to Rep. Lois Capps, D-Santa Barbara.

Secured through the Federal Aviation Administration, the money will be used to rehabilitate the intersection of the airport’s two runways, enhance taxiway lines and buy a sweeper truck to keep the runways free of debris.

“With thousands of passengers passing through this airport each year, and with many Central Coast residents and businesses relying on this airport’s services, it’s critical that air travel at our county airport be as safe as possible,” Capps said in a news release.
