People in the Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo areas may see smoke today from a prescribed burn at Camp San Luis Obispo.
Cal Fire is planning to burn 315 acres of land between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. near the camp’s firing ranges to eliminate highly flammable grass and other vegetation. The area is prone to wildfires.
The timing of the fire is dependent on weather and atmospheric conditions that are favorable to smoke dispersal and adequate consumption of fuels.
Cal Fire will conduct the burn with the assistance of the city of San Luis Obispo and South Bay fire departments.
