Man walking on bridge railing falls off and lands in SLO Creek

A man was rescued around 8 p.m. Thursday after he fell about 35-feet into San Luis Obispo Creek after trying to walk on the railing of a bridge near Madonna Road.

The Fire Department rescued the homeless man, who had fallen to a rocky area covered in brush, by using a pulley rope system attached to the department’s aerial ladder truck, said Battalion Chief Neal Berryman.

The man, whose name was not released, had significant injuries and was transported to French Hospital Medical Center.
