Tuesday night's closure of Hwy. 101 in Atascadero postponed

This week’s closures of northbound Highway 101 in Atascadero have been rescheduled for Wednesday and Thursday night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Caltrans canceled tonight’s closure.

Motorists can expect delays of up to 10 minutes as they are detoured at Rosario Road while crews do concrete slab replacement.

This week’s work is another phase in the Highway 101 Atascadero Rehabilitation Project, where crews are repaving 11 miles of highway from north of the Cuesta Grade to Traffic Way in Atascadero.

Caltrans will also widen bridges at Santa Margarita Creek and Atascadero Creek and resurface the on-and off-ramps at Santa Margarita, San Diego Road, Santa Rosa Road, Curbaril Avenue, Highway 41 and Traffic Way.

The contractor for the entire $25.3 million project, expected to wrap up in spring 2012, is Papich Construction of Pismo Beach.
