Dogs no longer allowed at Friday Concerts in the Plaza in SLO

Dogs will soon be banned from the Friday Concerts in the Plaza in downtown San Luis Obispo.

The “no pets” policy will go into effect July 1.

The change was made by the San Luis Obispo Downtown Association’s promotions committee because of safety concerns, said Deborah Cash executive director of the Downtown Association.

"There is no record of fights or bites but there have been some close calls," said Cash. "From a liability standpoint it is a decision that has to be made."

Cash said the compacted, crowded area at Mission Plaza where the concerts are held is not a feasible place for dogs to be.

Signs will be posted at Friday’s concert to inform the public of the change.
