What’s Your Emergency?

Each day, dispatchers from the seven police departments in San Luis Obispo County take dozens of calls from residents seeking help for issues ranging from minor disputes to serious crimes. The Tribune provides coverage of serious crimes every day on its news pages.

11:19 a.m. June 12, 579 Five Cities Drive in Pismo Beach

A woman exited TKD Surf Shop with a bunch of clothes. An employee followed her vehicle, and the woman threw the clothes into the center divider of Highway 101. Clothes were then blowing all over the freeway.

Dead ringer

7:21 p.m. June 12, Dolliver Street at Pomeroy Avenue in Pismo Beach

Someone jumped off the pier to retrieve what was believed to be a body. It was thought to have actually been a training dummy, as a dummy was found by the restroom on the pier.

11:44 p.m. June 13, 2614 Spyglass Drive in Pismo Beach

A resident said he heard what could have been a gun being cocked six to 10 minutes before the call. Officers contacted a neighbor, who said he was watching “Hawaii Five-0” and it could have come from the television.

Ah, young road rage

4:47 p.m. June 13, 825 Oak Park Road in Pismo Beach

A woman said a young male driver was weaving and laying on the horn, and then flipped her off. He followed her and then drove away and then found her again in the OSH parking lot. An off-duty officer intervened. The male driver admitted he was 16 and had just gotten his license. Words were exchanged on both sides.

9:39 p.m. June 13, 1800 Monterey St. in San Luis Obispo

A group of people in the apartments behind the Holiday Inn were throwing carrots at cars in the parking lot.

My home is not your home

3:59 p.m. June 14, 1885 Garfield in San Luis Obispo

Someone said they had a recurring problem with the neighbors going into their apartment.

Quiet, thy neighbor

3:47 p.m. June 16, 362 Placentia Ave. in Pismo Beach

A woman said her backyard neighbor has kids, and he plays with his kids and they are very loud. The resident requested the neighbor be contacted.

Breakdown

10:32 p.m. June 17, Harloe Avenue in Pismo Beach

Approximately 20 people were being very loud and racing engines. Officers checked on the group, who said they were having mechanical problems and were trying to jump-start their vehicle.

3:54 a.m. June 18, 3860 Higuera St. in San Luis Obispo

A woman complained that her neighbors were taking guavas from a tree in her front yard.

10:50 a.m. June 18, Pismo Beach Pier in Pismo Beach

A man was walking around with a sword in a sheath. Officers caught up with him at the end of the pier, and found it was a wooden sword bought from a vendor. The man was going to put it in his vehicle.

Didn’t find it

11:24 a.m. June 18, 3960 Higuera St. in San Luis Obispo

A woman called 911 and hung up. When called back, she said she didn’t mean to call 911. She was trying to call Eureka.

Just say no

12:01 p.m. June 18, 325 Madonna Road in San Luis Obispo

A jar of drugs was found in a shopping cart in Cost Plus. The manager wanted police to pick it up.

11:12 p.m. June 18, 600 Cypress St. in Pismo Beach

A man was caught defecating at the canteen area. He was subsequently arrested for being drunk in public.
