Two judges from a Canadian nonprofit organization spent Wednesday and Thursday touring Arroyo Grande with some members of Arroyo Grande in Bloom. The city is participating in the Communities in Bloom International Challenge, competing against seven other communities worldwide in its category.

Arroyo Grande is the only finalist community in California.

The judges, Bill Hahn from Akron, Ohio, and Stephen King from Elmsdale, a community in Nova Scotia, Canada, received a tour of the city Wednesday, and focused Thursday on a walking tour of the city’s historic downtown Village.

Results of the competition will be announced in October. According to its website, Communities in Bloom works to foster civic pride, beautification and environmental responsibility.
