SLO Habitat for Humanity gets $100,000 grant

Habitat for Humanity for San Luis Obispo has been given a $100,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation.

Half of the grant will go toward construction of a new home for a low-income local family, while the other $50,000 will go toward “A Brush with Kindness,” a Habitat for Humanity program that stresses “a holistic approach to ensure that families live in safe and well-maintained homes by assisting individual families struggling to maintain home exteriors,” according to a Habitat news release.

“ ‘A Brush with Kindness’ will help to revitalize the appearance of neighborhoods, encourage connections within the community and, most importantly, help preserve affordable housing stock,” according to the release.

“Bank of America provides opportunity for all by supporting community partners such as Habitat for Humanity for San Luis Obispo, which improves the quality of life for so many families and is key to the bank’s strategy to build capacities that truly make a difference,” said Bank of America spokesman Greg Bland.
