Making its way through San Luis Obispo County, the Special Olympics Flame of Hope torch was passed Tuesday from Pismo Beach police to officers from the Grover Beach Police Department.

The public ceremony at the Pismo Coast Village RV Resort featured guest speakers and the cheering on of the 2011 Special Olympics athletes.

The torch run coincides with fundraisers and other Special Olympics-related events, such as the annual Tip-A-Cop dinner that the Arroyo Grande Police Department held at The Quarterdeck restaurant.
