Paso Robles school district employees honored for saving co-worker's life

A trio of school district employees who saved the life of a co-worker received official recognition in ceremonies Tuesday at Fire Station 2 in Paso Robles.

Paso Robles Department of Emergency Services firefighters recognized Kelly Stainbrook, Koury Sinclair and William Bowles.

The trio, all employees of Paso Robles school district, immediately began CPR on Stan Scott, a co-worker, when he suffered cardiac arrest on April 29.

“The quick and appropriate actions of Stainbrook, Sinclair and Bowles, coupled with immediate delivery of advanced life support treatment by Paso Robles Emergency Services firefighter/paramedics, created a positive outcome for Scott,” according to a news release from the city.

Scott was taken to French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo where he underwent surgery. He was released five days later and expects to return to work June 1.

Fire Chief Ken Johnson said, “I cannot overemphasize the importance of early recognition of cardiac arrest, immediate CPR and notification of 911”.

CPR training is available locally by contacting the American Heart Association at 544-0263 or the American Red Cross at 543-0696.
