Actor Billy Zane of 'Titanic' to show off artwork in Cambria

“Titanic” star Billy Zane will attend an artist reception next month at the Vault Gallery in Cambria.

Zane will be on hand June 18 along with Salinas abstract painter Janet Roberts, Santa Barbara glass artist Lucy Harvey and Pacific Grove bronze sculptor Gustavo Torres.

Best known for his roles in “Titanic” and “The Phantom,” the actor is currently making waves in the art world as an abstract painter. He displayed several of his paintings last year at Frank Pictures Gallery in Santa Monica.

According to Zane’s artist statement, his work is influenced by the Japanese martial art of kendo.

“Painting for me, is more physical than psychological or even emotional,” wrote Zane, who began painting during the seven-month “Titanic” shoot. “Although, I derive great joy from the act and serve an almost insatiable desire to sling paint.”

“You Done With That?,” which features works by all four artists, runs June 18 through Aug. 2 at the Vault Gallery, 2289 Main St. in Cambria.
