Caltrans to continue paving, working on Hwy. 101 through Atascadero this week

Paving of Highway 101 through Atascadero will continue in both directions this week, according to Caltrans.

The paving is scheduled to take place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday from the Highway 58 interchange to Rosario Avenue.

Northbound ramps may also be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bridge work is also scheduled in the area of the Highway 41 interchange from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to Caltrans. There will also be partial closures to on- and off-ramps in both directions. Delays for motorists should not exceed 5 minutes.

The work is part of a project that will repave 11 miles of Higway 101 from north of the Cuesta Grade to Traffic Way. Caltrans will also widen bridges at Santa Margarita Creek, Atascadero Creek and Traffic Way and resurface several on- and offramps.

The contractor for the $25.3 million project is Papich Construction of Pismo Beach. This project is expected to be complete in the spring of 2012.
