A new park is taking shape in downtown Arroyo Grande. Improvements, including an upgrade to the gazebo, are under way at Village Green Park by Olohan Alley and the city’s Swinging Bridge.
The Arroyo Grande City Council on Tuesday considered whether to change its name to Centennial Park to honor the city’s 100th birthday on July 10.
The project will also add a commemorative plaque and a spot for a centennial time capsule, and an area to recognize project sponsors.
The project cost $238,394, City Manager Steve Adams said. Of that, $70,000 is covered by a state grant, $50,000 comes from donations and the rest will be paid for with developer fees required to be used for park improvements.
