Former Cuesta student killed in crash in Ventura

A former Cuesta student died in a hit-and-run collision in Ventura on Sunday.

Ryan Tremeare, 24, a South African native who moved to California when he was 15, was found early Sunday after being hit by an alleged drunken driver.

The Ventura Police Department arrested 36-year-old Robert Jack Bell, of Ventura, the alleged driver that caused the crash.

Tremeare’s close friend, Mikaj Yannoulatos, who was attending college with him at Cal State Channel Islands in Camarillo, said Tremeare was an outgoing person who studied environmental science and management and loved to surf.

“He had a lot of friends and an infectious smile,” Yannoulatos said. “He was set to graduate this summer.”
