Someone suffered minor injuries but was taken to Arroyo Grande Community Hospital after a multiple-car accident along southbound Highway 101 in Shell Beach Sunday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The injured person was treated there, but not admitted to the hospital, the CHP said.
The crash took place about 2 p.m. just under a mile south of the Spyglass Road exit.
Southbound traffic was backed up almost to San Luis Bay Drive because both lanes were closed for a time.
The fast lane reopened at 2:13 p.m., according to the CHP. Both lanes were clear by 2:52 p.m., the agency said.
Still, traffic remained slow past 2:30 p.m. though the scene had been cleared.
Northbound traffic was backed up about a mile by curious drivers slowing down.
