Detectives from the Atascadero Police Department are looking for a man who used a gun to rob the Shell gas station at 8000 Morro Road around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The robber, said to be in his early 20s, was described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall to 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with colored graphics on it, blue jeans and white sneakers with black-colored tips.

The man entered the gas station with the hood of his sweatshirt pulled over his head, wearing a white baseball cap under the hood. He had a black bandana covering his face and was wearing sunglasses. Police say that when he entered the business he immediately pointed what appeared to be a silver revolver-type handgun at the clerk and motioned toward the register. He removed the cash from the drawer and fled from the business on foot south bound toward Morro Road.

Anyone with information regarding this crime or who recognizes the robber in the photographs is asked to call Detective Fred Pflum at 461-5051 or email him at fpflum@atascadero.org.

Wednesday’s armed robbery is the second time in the past two months that the gas station has been robbed. On Feb. 22, a man entered the business, pointed what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun at the clerk and demanded money from the register. After getting approximately $250 in cash, the man ran west on Morro Road.
