Ignoring road closure signs could get you a ticket

Ignoring a road closure sign could end up in a traffic ticket, as a San Miguel man learned early Saturday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

About 6:20 a.m., the 25-year-old man driving south in a sedan along North River Road, just south of Estrella Road, drove around the road closure sign at a seasonal river crossing in spite of the moving water, the CHP said.

His car got stuck about halfway through the closure about a mile southeast of the North County community, so CHP officers and firefighters from the San Miguel Fire Department and County/Cal Fire had to pull the man to safety, according to the CHP.

The man wasn’t hurt, but he was cited on suspicion of not obeying the road-closure signs, the CHP said.
