Two women trying to cross Arroyo Grande Creek in the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area in a two-wheel-drive sedan got stuck on Monday night.
The incident took place about 11:30 p.m., and rangers responded to help them out of the creek, said Mike Lack, the park’s supervising peace officer.
A 30-year-old woman from Tulare was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, and her passenger, a 43-year-old woman from Los Angeles, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
The creek is open and passable, but Lack said that a four-wheel drive vehicle is much better suited to make the cross.
Lack said that he believes the women may have entered the park without a pass after hours, but that he isn’t sure what they were doing there.
