San Luis Obispo police have arrested one man and recovered a shotgun believed to have been involved in a Feb. 6 armed robbery downtown. A second suspect in the robbery remains at large.
On Tuesday at 7 p.m., a SWAT team acted on a search warrant at 880 Calle Del Caminos and arrested Robert Joseph Pelz, 31, at his residence. Police had identified Pelz and Jason Michael Atkins, 31, of Los Osos, as suspects in the robbery.
Police believe Atkins frequently stayed at Pelz’s San Luis Obispo residence, but he was not there at the time of the search. A $100,000 warrant for his arrest is still outstanding.
At 9:54 p.m. Feb. 6, two men in a white Mercedes pointed a shotgun at a victim near Marsh and Nipomo streets. The victim handed the suspects an undisclosed amount of cash, and they fled the scene in the Mercedes.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call San Luis Obispo police at 781-7317.
