Law enforcement is asking for the public's help to find the driver of a rental truck that hit a bicyclist on Highway 1 south of Cambria on Friday morning and then drove away.
James T. Murray, 68, of Los Osos suffered a severely fractured arm and multiple bruises, according to reports from those at the scene. Murray was taken by ambulance to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center.
The collision, about a mile south of the highway junction with Ardath Drive and Main Street, was reported at 9:37 a.m.
The truck driver was heading north on Highway 1 when the vehicle collided with Murray, who was traveling with another cyclist on the roadway’s right shoulder, according to a CHP report.
Authorities are looking for an Enterprise rental truck with a hydraulic lift on the back that folds up and covers a portion of the rear door. The Enterprise lettering on the rear of the vehicle was in cursive, according to the description. Witnesses said the truck’s license plate was not easily visible.
Anyone with information on the collision is encouraged to call 593-3333, a non-emergency CHP dispatch number.
