Pismo Beach

The Pismo Beach City Council will hold a goal-setting workshop Monday and Tuesday to get residents’ input on what they believe should be the city’s most important priorities.

The workshops will start at 8:30 a.m. both days and will be in the Pismo Room at Mission Inn of Pismo Beach, located at 601 James Way.

Residents can also submit comments on the city’s website at www.pismobeach.org. Click on the “submit your input” link under the “news and announcements” section.

Atascadero

The Atascadero City Council elected incumbent Chuck Ward and newcomer Christian Cooper to the Planning Commission on Friday.

Cooper previously served on the city’s Parks and Recreation Commission.

Nine applicants applied for the two open seats. They were selected after the council interviewed them Friday before the public.

Ward’s and Cooper’s positions are different than the other five commission seats on the seven-member board because they are open to Atascadero residents for two-year terms.

City Council members directly appoint the other commissioners to four-year terms coinciding with their own. Councilman Jerry Clay appointed Sandy Jack in 2008, and Jack resigned in November. Clay still needs to appoint a replacement.

Commissioners are expected to name in February who will hold the chair and vice chair position.

Incumbent Barbie Butz and newcomer Charlie Joslin were selected to Parks and Recreation Commission on Friday. Two seats were available on the seven-member board.
