Today is the national holiday celebrating Martin Luther King Jr., and several local events are planned to honor him:
Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Food Drive. Concludes today. Volunteers throughout the county went door-to-door Saturday delivering bags and flyers asking for food donations for the Food Bank. Volunteers will return today to pick up the bags filled with donated food items. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration. 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Performance of selected writings of King; Jessica Rothhaar will present “Martin Luther King Jr. and the State Budget: A Context for Action.” Hosted by Central Coast Clergy and Laity for Justice. The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, a state and federal holiday, is observed today. Here are some places that are closed:
All libraries and federal, state, county, city and community-service district offices; K-12 schools; Cuesta College, banks, stock markets and post offices (though Express Mail will be delivered).
All branches in the county library system are also closed Tuesday.
Though Cal Poly is closed, the Kennedy library is open from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m.
