Pismo Beach woman dies after car crash in Arroyo Grande

A 69-year-old Pismo Beach woman died Thursday following a rollover accident in Arroyo Grande.

Betty Jean Corrick and her husband, Peter Corrick, 70, were traveling south on Highway 101 at 2:27 p.m. Wednesday when Peter Corrick exited the freeway at Grand Avenue. The car crossed Grand Avenue without stopping at the signal and struck the curb, traveled through some shrubs and overturned on the embankment below.

Betty Jean Corrick was taken to Arroyo Grande Community Hospital where she died of her injuries at 3:17 p.m. Thursday, said Officer John Townsend, California Highway Patrol spokesman. Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Corrick was not arrested, and an investigation into the crash continues. Investigators are trying to determine whether Corrick had a pre-existing medical condition that might have contributed to the accident, Townsend said.
