Holiday shoppers will likely have to slosh through the final weekend before Christmas as rain is expected to drench San Luis Obispo County on Saturday and Sunday.
An even more powerful storm is expected by forecasters on Tuesday, just in time for the start of winter. Computer models are also now showing that Christmas Day could be wet as well.
Motorists will need to be careful, as the National Weather Service expects there to be areas of standing water on roadways because of all the rain. People in low-lying areas will need to be on the lookout for possible flooding.
Local forecaster John Lindsey said that from Saturday to next Thursday, San Luis Obispo could receive five inches or more of rain. That would exceed the city’s historical average for the entire month of December of 3.79 inches.
