A sort of musical chairs is taking place among some retailers on Broad Street in San Luis Obispo.
Bambu Batu, a retail store that sells bamboo products including clothing, furniture and dishware, has relocated to 1023 Broad St., a block from its old location.
“We hope to make this place our long-term home,” said Fred Hornaday, owner of Bambu Batu.
The space where the bamboo shop moved was previously used by Old World Rugs. That shop consolidated, which opened up the spot.

Tropical Chocolate Co. then moved into the space vacated by Bambu Batu at 1127 Broad St., Suite A.
The new location puts the chocolate company in the heart of downtown.
“The old location was good for wholesale, but after a while we realized we needed more foot traffic,” said Roger Williams, who owns the business with his wife, Pam. “We had been waiting for something downtown for a long time, so when this place came available, we jumped on it.”
San Luis Obispo Chocolates, a division of Tropical Chocolates Co., will also operate out of their new location.

A new local website, SLOpinions.com, allows the public to rate and review local businesses. The site is owned by Aaron Emerson, owner of the San Luis Obispo-based marketing company Prevail PR.
Since search engines rely on the quantity of online reviews more than traditional optimization to prioritize search results, SLOpinions.com was created to help local businesses get reviews and increase their chances of appearing in search engine queries, according to a recent news release.
