Paso Robles police warn holiday shoppers to be on alert

Authorities in Paso Robles are urging shoppers to take extra caution during the holidays.

Shoppers often make themselves easy targets for thieves, according to the Paso Robles Police Department, when they leave their valuables and purchases in plain sight inside their vehicles.

Paso Robles officers have investigated about 135 car burglaries so far this year, according police.

That’s about a 33 percent increase over the same period last year, when the department had investigated 90 burglaries.

Police say they want shoppers to be extra careful during the holiday shopping season.

Shoppers are advised to lock their vehicles and hide any valuables left behind.

Authorities also advise shoppers to not overload themselves with packages in parking lots so they can remain alert in their surroundings.
