Arraignment delayed for man accused of killing couple after driving off Hwy. 101 in Pismo Beach

A judge Thursday postponed the arraignment of the driver in the October Pismo Beach crash that killed a vacationing Washington state couple.

Jerardo Iriarte, 19, of Oceano, is scheduled to be back in San Luis Obispo Superior Court on Dec. 9 to face charges of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence in connection with the Oct. 16 crash.

Authorities allege that Iriarte deliberately drove his car off the side of Highway 101 to harm himself. The car went through a fence and onto Price Street.

Bruce and Marjorie Mallin, who were walking along Price Street near the Marie Callender’s restaurant, were killed when they were hit by Iriarte’s car.
