Meteors expected to light the sky above the Central Coast tonight

Up for some star-gazing? The Leonid meteor shower is expected to peak overnight Wednesday, giving night owls and early risers a show of shooting stars.

NASA estimates that about 15 meteors an hour will streak across the sky at the height of this year's shower. The best time to see the meteors will be just before dawn, NASA says; before then, light from the moon might obscure the show.

If you decide to snap some photos of the meteor shower, send them to us — we'll post them here on SanLuisObispo.com.
