Pismo Beach

Pismo Beach officials are seeking volunteers to fill 10 vacancies on city commissions and advisory councils.

The positions include:

Two seats on the Conference and Visitors Bureau; the Parking Advisory Committee; Parks, Recreation and Beautification Commission.

Three seats on the Planning Commission.

One seat on the Traffic Safety Advisory Committee.

The beautification commissioners serve four-year terms, and Traffic Safety committee members serve a one-year term. The rest of the positions are two-year terms.

Hospice Partners of the Central Coast is hosting free Living with Grief and Loss During the Holidays workshops, designed to help people cope with the loss of a loved one. Call 269-0141 to register for either workshop:

1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at Ludwick Community Center, 864 Santa Rosa St., San Luis Obispo.

6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 18 at Hospice Partners, 285 South St., Suite P, San Luis Obispo.

The Jewish Community Center of San Luis Obispo will present a public menorah on the steps at San Luis Obispo’s Mission Plaza in honor of Hannukkah.

Candles will be lit each night from Dec. 1 through Dec. 8. All lightings will take place at 5 p.m. except Dec. 3, with a lighting at 4 p.m.
