FINAL UPDATE: Tonight's Delta II launch at Vandenberg canceled

FINAL UPDATE 7 P.M.: Boeing and the United Launch Alliance announced at 6:54 p.m. that Sunday night's launch of the Delta II rocket carrying an Italian satellite from Vandenberg Air Force Base has been canceled because of "technical concerns."

They said they plan another launch attempt at 7:20 p.m. Monday if the unspecified concern can be resolved in time.

Listen for a roar and a look for a thin yellow contrail in the skies above the South County as a Delta II rocket carrying Italy’s COSMO 4 satellite is set to launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base in northern Santa Barbara County tonight.

The rocket is set for launch at 7:20 p.m. If the launch goes as scheduled, the contrail would be visible about 30 seconds to a minute later.
