Arroyo Grande

County supervisor candidate Mike Zimmerman will share his vision for the South County at a meet-and-greet today in Arroyo Grande.

The event will be held at 227 E. Branch St., in the Arroyo Grande Village, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Zimmerman — an Arroyo Grande attorney — and Paul Teixeira of Nipomo — who is on the Lucia Mar school board and the county parks commission — are running to represent the 4th District on the Board of Supervisors.

They are seeking to replace Katcho Achadjian, who is finishing his third term. Achadjian is seeking a seat in the state Assembly.

SLO County

Two upcoming events will give voters an opportunity to meet sheriff candidate Joe Cortez.

At 4 p.m. Sunday, a meet-and-greet will be held at Mongo’s Saloon and Restaurant at 359 W. Grand Ave. in Grover Beach.

On Oct. 31, a “tardeada,” or afternoon party, will be hosted by members of the Latino community at the Sands Inn & Suites at 1930 Monterey St. in San Luis Obispo from 3 to 5 p.m.

Mexican food will be served and questions will be answered in Spanish and English.

To RSVP, call 801-6664.

Cortez, a retired Pismo Beach police chief, and San Luis Obispo police Capt. Ian Parkinson are running for county sheriff in the Nov. 2 election. They seek to replace the retiring Pat Hedges.
