Youngsters studied electric conductivity Saturday at Atascadero’s Mad Science workshop in the Colony Park Community Center.

The series, offering courses for kids ages 5 to 8 and ages 9 to 12, is designed to introduce them “to a world of discovery while sparking their imagination,” according to organizers.

The next session for children ages 5 to 8 is scheduled for 11 a.m. to noon Nov. 11. The class will conduct air pressure and buoyancy experiments.

Later that day, youths ages 9 to 12 will do a mock oil spill and “learn all about the pollution that plagues the oceans,” according to the listing.

That session is planned for 1 to 2 p.m.

The cost for either class is $20 for Atascadero residents and $22 for nonresidents.

Space is limited. Registration is being accepted at Atascadero City Hall at 6907 El Camino Real or at www.atascadero.org.
