Arroyo Grande

Sheriff candidate Ian Parkinson has picked up an endorsement from Jim Clark, former police chief of the Arroyo Grande Police Department.

Clark served with the department from 1959 to 1989, serving as chief from 1972 to 1989. He then worked as the county sheriff Cal ID coordinator from 1989-99.

Another former Arroyo Grande police chief, Rick TerBorch, has also endorsed Parkinson.

Parkinson, a San Luis Obispo police captain, is running against former Pismo Beach police Chief Joe Cortez in the Nov. 2 election for county sheriff.

Sheriff Pat Hedges is retiring after 12 years with the department.
