Small plane crashes at eastern end of SLO County

A small plane crashed late this afternoon on Soda Lake in the far eastern side of San Luis Obispo County.

Local authorities were first notified about the crash around 5:50 p.m.

Sheriff's Sgt. Dale Strobridge said the occupants onboard the craft were rescued by a medical team on a helicopter from Kern County. The passengers and pilot were not hurt, Strobridge said. He did not immediately know how many people were on board the plane.

SLO County sheriff's deputies are still en route to the scene, which is about 25 miles southwest of Taft. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
