Arroyo Grande

The city Recreation and Maintenance Services Department will host a summer carnival Friday featuring an annual summer playground pinewood derby race at 1 p.m.

Children participating in city summer programs will race their cars for first-, second- and third- place trophies in various categories.

The carnival runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Elm Street Park and also includes game booths, a bounce castle and a barbecue. The park is located near Ash and 26th streets, next to the Soto Sports Complex.

The cost is $2 for unlimited use of the game booths and an additional $2 for the bounce castle. A hamburger lunch is $3; a hot dog lunch is $2.50.

Paso Robles

Red Scooter Deli is seeking a temporary permit to operate a push cart in front of the Paso Robles branch of San Luis Obispo Superior Court at 901 Park St.

The eatery, which has a storefront in downtown Paso Robles, is slated to go before the city’s Development Review Committee at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the conference room on the second floor of City Hall at 1000 Spring St.
