In-N-Out gets permit to start building restaurant in Arroyo Grande

Arroyo Grande building officials issued In-N-Out Burger a building permit today, allowing the restaurant to be constructed in the Five Cities Center area as soon as debris from the former Sizzler restaurant is hauled away.

The site at 1170 W. Branch St. could be cleared by early next week, said city building official John Hurst, making way for the 3,265-square-foot In-N-Out that will include an outdoor patio area with 10 tables.

The Planning Commission approved the project in December. The drive-through restaurant includes a 1,990-square-foot area accessible to the public, and 1,275 square feet that will be used for food preparation and employee use.

Hurst expects the restaurant to open by the end of the year.
