The CHP today identified the driver killed in the crash on Oso Flaco Road as Julian Nicasio-Paz, 24, of Santa Maria.
Paz was westbound on Oso Flaco Road on Sunday at 3:19 p.m. at a high rate of speed. As he crossed a set of railroad tracks, his 1997 Ford F-150 went out of control, ran off the roadway and rolled several times.
“The driver did not appear to be restrained and was ejected from his vehicle as it rolled,” said the CHP in a press release.
Nicasio-Paz was found by paramedics under his truck, and was resuscitated before being rushed to Marian Medical Center, where he later died, said the CHP.
“Alcohol appears to have played a factor in this collision,” said the CHP. People who might have witnessed the rollover or who know the driver are asked to call the highway patrol at 593-3300.
